District Friends of Camping!

Winter is just starting, but it's never too soon to start thinking about summer camp. As camp costs have increased so has the need for campership financial aid. So, we want to be sure each child has an opportunity to receive financial aid, if needed.

The focus for summer camp season is "Heading down the right path…" There are limited funds from the district for financial assistance. The deadline will be MAY 4th to receive those requests. That's weeks before the first week of summer camp, so PLAN AHEAD!! A district financial aid application is available here... Be sure to use this form (2012 FORM)! Remember, the form must be completely filled out and have appropriate signatures or it will be returned!

Camp Aldersgate; Camp Asbury; and Camp Wanake; will be happy to welcome you and your family to camp. Check out the web sites and watch for the Open House dates at each of the camps.

Also, watch for the new camping brochures to be arriving at your home (if you were at camp last summer), or at your church. Hope to see lots of you "Heading down the right path" to camp.

Pathways to Ministry Internship Project looking for 2012 Candidates

The Pathways to Ministry Internship Project of East Ohio Annual Conference was established through the Board of Ordained Ministry with the following purposes:

* To identify a diverse group of young adults looking to explore their gifts for ministry
* To nurture the young persons through the process of discerning or clarifying their call or vocation
* To provide a means for a variety of practical ministry experiences
* To assist in building relationships between younger generations of leaders and the church

The Ministry Internship Project is for those who are genuinely open to the idea of God's calling. It is an opportunity to discover whether their gifts and graces match the needs and requirements of ministry within the church.

The program will provide experience in Christian ministry within the United Methodist setting with a peer and mentor group for further reflection and discernment.

At least five college students who have completed two years of study and are between the ages of 19-24 will be selected from applicants from across the East Ohio Conference.

United Methodist Men: Why Charter?

The Charter has been the uniting instrument of United Methodist Men units for over 50 years. The concept to unite Methodist Men through a national office was a grassroots idea at the beginning of men’s work. Men gladly join and support many diverse civic and service clubs and support these organizations with dues as well as many hours of volunteer service in their communities. They do this willingly year after year, reaping the spiritual reward of contributing to the welfare of humankind. They enjoy the association with others and often cultivate their own welfare in the business world.
